Do you need a party…fast? Here is one method that will work for you quickly and you can use it whenever you need a new booking to get the profits rolling.
 
The best part? You don’t even need to leave your house!
 
All you need to do is take a hint from the uber-popular (and profitable) shopping channels and do a home party video. Just gussy up, put on some lipstick, position yourself in front of your video camera or webcam and do a short video promoting three products that work together.
 
Why just three products? Because if people think they have to sit through a loooooong video, they won’t do it. Also, if you keep it short and sweet and keep the products related, it will have a message.
 
For instance, if you sell kitchenwares, do a simple video on your three best non-stick items. Or for cosmetics, do a video on how to create a smokey eye and have your top three products to do it. Get creative!
 
After the video, just send it out to your friends and family and customer list with a special promo and hot deadline (No deadline? No urgency to buy…always have a hot deadline!). You can package your 3 items together for a super special price, too!
 
Before your video party, send out email invites and let everyone know it’s coming. You can encourage them to pour themselves a favorite beverage and take 20 minutes to watch and have fun with you (if you do a little training class, people will be more apt to join).
 
This is just one idea you can do fast and easy to get a party going. Use this technique once a month or even more often and book parties and consultations and make sales from it!

Do the holidays mean an automatic trip to crazytown? For most of us, the short answer is yes, of course! (DUH!)

But it really doesn’t have to if you follow some simple tips:

  1. Act like Santa: Make lists and check them off. Use a big red marker. Just the action of checking off items on a list is a powerful stress reliever.
  2. Keep your schedule: Don’t get off-track with exercise and diet (too much). If you stick to your regular schedule and program, you will sleep better, handle stress better and enjoy your holiday (and life) more.
  3. Prioritize: If you absolutely don’t need to do it, don’t. When you make your lists, number things
    or write them down in sequence. This will help you get the important (stress-causing) tasks done
    without whiling away time doing things that don’t matter. In other words, don’t vacuum the closets when you really need to wrap gifts.
  4. Try to remember the reason for it all: It isn’t about standing in long lines and fighting for parking at the mall. Before you rush out the door to get those last-minute items, give yourself a reality check. It’s about family and the people that are dear to you. Hang a picture of them in your car and try to smile at it when that *&^%$* steals the last available parking spot.
  5. Have fun! While everyone is outside playing or enjoying the holiday party, are you fretting and running around trying to make everyone happy? Yes, the punch bowl needs refilling and of course, the ham needs to come out of the oven on time, but try to be a guest at your party for a while vs. just acting like “the help.” It will help you enjoy things more. And really, who cares if the shrimp puffs overcook a little?
  6. When all else fails, remember it only comes once a year and before you know it, we’ll be smack-dab in the middle of January and looking for the next fun event
    to cure us of our winter doldrums.

You can do large parties, small consultations or even online parties–whatever you choose, you must have people interested in you to grow. 3. Get out there! These days if you’re not in social networking, you’re losing BIG TIME. It took me awhile to “get it,” but it isn’t hard. Just blog or tweet or give some good blog tips, get sign ups and market to them.
 
4. Sign ups…you ARE getting them aren’t you? If not, you’re really losing out. My #1 tip is to set up a site or blog where you can offer something to visitors so they sign up and you can continue the conversation. Don’t let them visit and leave…get them on your list!
 
5. Make recruiting easier. The most simple way to do this is to let your newbie recruits know you have a system to help them get leads and bookings to make fast profits. If you just rely on them to go out into the world and do it alone, you’re not giving them the best start. Give them real tools that help them make money consistently and they’ll not only stick around, they’ll be your best performers! 6. Become a WEALTHY WAHM…set up a program that not only gets you leads and bookings, but be consistent with your marketing. Choose one or two days a week to just focus on marketing, social networking, blogging, etc. Make videos, do online classes, run promotions…if you make the choice to do it weekly, you’ll be amazed at the new results you get!

Do you visit a hair salon where the stylists rent their stations (vs. an employee salon? 

If so, take a basket of some of your smaller products and ask to leave it there on her station. If she sells anything, give her a commission. During your next appointment, you can “take inventory” and pay her.

Be sure to attach your card or contact sticker to every product, so if they want more, they can call you!
If your stylist is interested, others in the salon may be also. If you cannot do a purchase situation, give out free samples, but to make this beneficial for you, be sure the stylist has the person sign a “guest book” or something similar to receive the freebie sample. Get their name, phone/email (some way to contact them).

1. Make your business more fun by doing something different, like an “every Tuesday” sale. Promote to your customers/leads.
2. Make one day a month a “BOGO” (buy one, get one) day. Anything purchased will get a free gift or double product. Make the same day every month (i.e., the 15th)
3. Sweeten the deal with free shipping on any products purchased over a certain amount (many large sites do this with great success!)
4. Give a special treat to anyone who refers a new customer. For example, Susan refers Jenny and Susan gets an item from your new product line when Jenny makes an order.
5. Bring-a-friend: If you offer personal consultations, offer to give a free gift to those who bring a friend (both could get a gift!)
6. Gift bags give-aways: At parties, give out little gift bags with your sample and card. Give each guest an extra to give to a friend. (Get cute little gift bags at Michaels!)
7. Gift wrapping: If you don’t already, offer gift wrapping and cards to those who order during holiday months (Christmas, Valentine’s, etc.)

Back in the day (pre-1990), PR was for those big Fortune 500 companies who could afford monthly retainers in the thousands.

They got a rep who handled their press, releases and made them visible in the world (McDonalds, Estee Lauder and CBS all use press religiously).

But until recently the little guy could not even dream of affording it. However, with the advent of the internet, wonderful tool that it is), we can all utilize marketing and PR to let the world know we’re alive and doing buisness! 

With a consistent, well-placed marketing and PR program, you can start getting a pretty amazing stream of leads. I’ve not only seen it done, but done it myself.

So what’s the difference between having a website, doing some articles and strategic PR? 

Simple…a third-party placement which can give you a boost in credibility and visibility. Instead of being seen as “advertising,” PR is a wonderful way to get others to know you exist based on quotes, videos and more that you didn’t produce! 

Like getting quoted in an article vs. running an ad…which are you more likely to believe? The ad or the person being quoted in an article?

On the way to an appointment last week my husband and I were whizzing down the road. As we drove we passed a sign that read “Need a Website?” It also posted a phone number.
 
Can you say “Duh?”
 
What was wrong? First, it was a paid sign on a nice placard and well done, easy to read. However, why did they post a phone number vs. a website?
 
As you’re driving down the road with your mind on other things, are you really going to remember a phone number or even want to key it into your phone…especially when it’s about a website? Wouldn’t you rather see a catchy name to remember and plug it into your computer later to get an idea of the type of sites this person can complete?
 
Again, a very dumb (and likely) costly mistake.
 
Remember, if you’re banking on phone calls these days, you’re probably missing a significant portion of interested parties who visit websites to determine if they want to buy or not. Phone number are great back-ups, but in today’s world, websites are the sales tool to use.

Video marketing is powerful!
 
Did you know that recruiting is a HUGE reason people in direct sales and mlm  put together videos?
 
However…it’s a slipperys slope if not done correctly (it can actually drive people to your competitors!)
 
What not to do?

 
Don’t sell! Give information and build trust.

 
Don’t forget URL! Always give people a place to visit when your video is done. Better yet, stamp each page or several frames with your URL so people don’t have to wait until it’s done playing.
 
Don’t forget your description. I don’t know how many videos I’ve watched on YouTube where I wanted more details, but there was no description and I missed the URL frame. Ooops…you lose a customer!
